Gympie Calligraphy Group
Gympie
Calligraphy Group exists as an informal get together and grew out of a desire
of some beginner students
to learn more.
We
have been meeting since approximately 1997 with attendance varying over the
years until at present we average only four people. Only two of us have had
formal tuition and have been involved in the pursuit of calligraphy over some
time. I guess we are the driving force but we love to meet (even if it is
only the two of us) and talk about all things calligraphic.
We
meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except for January) from 9.30am til
12 noon at the Cooloola Shire Public Gallery in Nash Street, Gympie. There
is a fee of $5 which goes to paying rent and buying materials for group activities
We have a program for each year and spend perhaps 3 meetings working on a particular calligraphic style and the rest of the meetings looking at application-type activities, eg) next week we are cutting our own stamps from erasers.
