*****
Founded in 1983 by June and Roger Francis, after June had been
teaching Calligraphy with Adult Education for just over a year.
The Guild is a State-wide group. Each year a North South Gathering
is held so that members can socialise as well as learn new skills.
The wide range of subjects we now offer was the reason for the
name change ie:- bookbinding, special art effects, printing, etching,
box making, collage, card design, fast felt pen lettering, Chinese
brush painting, decorated letters & gold illumination, paper making,
brush lettering, realistic animal painting (hatching), watercolour
flower painting, watercolour techniques, and of course calligraphy
and lettering.
The Guild meets the first Monday of each month at:-
Bibiani Studio
339 Macquarie Street, South Hobart,Tas.7004

We have also held workshops with many national and international
calligraphers.
Our major projects have been the production of a hand-written
gold-illuminated book A3 size of 143 pages recording the history
of The Savings Bank of Tasmania. The book was hand bound in leather
by Mavis Watson and is on view to the public.
The project took 7 years to complete
Each year since 1991 we have produced a calendar of which the
theme has been mainly Tasmanian. We also hold exhibitions once
or twice a year.
Our newsletter is called Tasmanian Pen Craft and is printed
4 times a year - September, December, March and June. Back issues
are available
Our membership renewal is in June and our
AGM is in August each year
