Looking West
"............along the deck rail
to the East facing side of the deck, the stormy little cove, the green
grass rough of the eleventh hole of the golf course, and the bare winter
trees which separate us from a small municipal airport, the Row River and
foothills of the Cascade Mountains beyond. Ducks and geese bring ducklings
and goslings to the cove. Fish boil and frogs boom from here in the warmer
months. We've also seen little green and great blue herons there and red
winged blackbirds in the water grasses. The bistro table and chairs are
the coolest place to sit in summer heat, but one just can't be too distracted
by the flower garden more to the left, because of golf balls possibly coming
in at high speed from the right!"
